NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Crude futures fell below $100 a barrel Thursday after a government report showed U.S. stockpiles of oil and gasoline rose last week.

Light, sweet crude for July delivery recently traded $1.53, or 1.5%, lower at $98.76 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude on the ICE futures exchange traded 39 cents lower at $113.13 a barrel. U.S. oil stockpiles rose by 2.9 million barrels in the week ended May 27, according to data released Thursday by the Department of Energy.
